Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Her father Elroy Fernandez comes originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Her brothers are elder and two younger brothers. Because of the turmoil in Sri Lanka, her family moved to Bahrain in the early 1980s. She was given a scholarship to attend in the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia, after completing her education in Bahrain. As a lover of culture as well as languages, she joined Berlitz Language School, where she learned Spanish as well as enhancing her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. Her first appearance on television was after she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her show, Lanka Business Report, is about Sri Lankan business. Padukone was the daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore, but she came from Copenhagen. When she was in her teens she competed in badminton championships at national levels. But, she resigned from the sport to become a fashion designer. Padukone is born in Mangalorean background and her native language is Konkani. Padukone Village is located within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District in Karnataka within India. Prakash Padukone's father was an international badminton champion who is retiring. The mother of the child is a travel agent.
